On Monday, 15 January Nigeria held the 2018 installment of its Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The day is in commemoration of the defeat of Biafran troops by Nigerian Federal troops on 15 January 1970, a moment that marked the end of Nigeria’s civil and the unity and relative peace it enjoys to date.

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, and Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, both honored Nigeria’s fallen servicemen by laying wreaths at the official ceremony in Abuja.
