Carl Niehaus has begun to rally support for the second appearance of former president, Jacob Zuma at the Pietermaritzburg High Court in KwaZulu-Natal.
African National Congress (ANC) member, Carl Niehaus took to Twitter on Monday, 24 May 2021, to rally support for former president, Jacob Zuma, ahead of his second appearance in court. Last week, Zuma made his first appearance at the Pietermaritzburg High Court on allegations of corruption. Niehaus, along with the ANC’s supposed radical economic transformation (RET) faction, were present to support the former president.
The support showcased was perceived as defiance of the National Executive Committee’s (NEC) stance on the ruling party’s decision to distance itself from Zuma’s legal battles. However, Niehaus and the ANC KwaZulu-Natal branch went ahead and showed their support for Zuma.
In the latest post, Niehaus encouraged supporters to show up in their numbers to see Zuma through the second day of his appearance. Niehaus was recently lambasted by Fikile Mbalula on social media for his support of the RET resolution.
