Niehaus pursues R8 million defamation case against Mbalula

Published on

Carl Niehaus has confirmed that he has decided to forge ahead with his defamation case against Minister Mbalula, who previously referred to him as a thug, amongst other derogatory comments.

Spokesperson of the uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA), Carl Niehaus took to Twitter on Thursday, 6 May 2021, to confirm that he is pursuing an R8 million defamation case against Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula. This comes after a series of posts that Mbalula previously directed at him, some of which referred to Niehaus as Ace Magashule’s lap dog and a thug.

Niehaus also referenced the behavioral patterns of Mbalula’s Twitter rants, in which he often lambastes members of his party. These include Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Ace Magashule, amongst others.

Niehaus claims to have suffered reputational damage because of the comments that have been publicly shared about him. Niehaus further highlighted that despite Mbalula’s unfounded claims, he has never been charged for corruption.
