Niehaus outraged by Zuma ruling

Published on

Carl Niehaus has expressed anger at the ConCourt’s ruling against Jacob Zuma, claiming that apartheid criminals have not been jailed but the ANC has jailed one of its own.

On Wednesday, 30 June 2021, African National Congress (ANC) member, Carl Niehaus took to Twitter to express his anger towards the ANC, the president, and all National Executive Committee (NEC) members. This was after the ConCourt’s ruling against former president, Jacob Zuma.

On Tuesday, 29 June 2021, Zuma was sentenced to 15 months in prison for being in contempt of court. South Africans, including fellow political parties, mostly welcomed the ruling and sentencing, with some even suggesting that it was one of the most important rulings in the history of our democracy.

Niehaus, however, feels otherwise. He has called on the government to realise one thing, stating, “I was yesterday, when the prison sentence was imposed on Jacob Zuma, outraged by the vindictiveness and injustice. This morning I woke up even angrier. Apartheid criminals such as FW de Klerk and Wouter Basson are not jailed, but our ANC government does this to one of our own.”
