Niehaus in full support of scheduled anti-lockdown march

Published on

Carl Niehaus has expressed his full support of the anti-lockdown march to the Union Buildings, and is honoured to have been asked to be one of the patrons.

MK veteran, Carl Niehaus, on Thursday, 26 August 2021, issued a message in support of the anti-lockdown march to the Union Buildings, which is scheduled for Monday, 30 August 2021. Niehaus has confirmed that he will indeed be present to participate in the march on the anticipated day.

He expressed that he is deeply concerned by the manner in which the COVID-19 protocols are being abused, according to him, as a way to repress freedom of speech and hard-fought civil liberties. He noted that President Cyril Ramaphosa had been clear that no citizen would be forced to vaccinate, but that what is now being conveyed is pressure and negative sanctions against those who were choosing not to vaccinate. Niehaus believes that such contradictory behaviour is reflective of the conduct of an unprincipled and untrustworthy government. He has stated that this undermines the integrity of the COVIS-19 protocols and is a means of abusing them for repressive political purposes.

Niehaus has referred back to his arrest in Estcourt, KZN, noting that this was his personal experience of how the protocols are being abused. He further emphasised that the movement would not cower or allow any intimidation.
