Niehaus and Mbalula hurl insults at each other

Published on

Carl Niehaus and Fikile Mbalula appear to have rehashed their social media feud, in light of the ruling party’s disagreements over Busisiwe Mkhwebane being the Public Protector.

The African National Congress’ (ANC) Carl Niehaus and Fikile Mbalula, on Sunday, 7 March 2021, took to Twitter to hurl insults at one another. The back-and-forth exchange between the two National Executive Committee (NEC) members of the ruling party is believed to be caused by the two allegedly being in opposing factions of the ANC.

Therefore, the recent mudslinging is believed to have stemmed from the utterances of the ANC’s Secretary-General, Ace Magashule. With the ongoing speculation on the precarious future of the Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, Magashule made it clear that the future of the Public Protector is secure. Mbalula, on the other hand, has purported suggestions of Mkhwebane’s office being used in the supposed political tug of war, further labelling Mkhwebane a handgun.

Niehaus, in one of his latest posts, shared one of his previous interviews, with Mbalula commenting and referring to him as a “thug.” In reply, Niehaus dug into the archives of allegations that have been directed at Mbalula, stating, “So rich coming from a ‘person of interest’ in the Bozwana murder. By the way, did you pay back the R1-million Bozwana loaned you for your Las Vegas frolic before he was mysteriously murdered?”
