Carl Niehaus has spoken out after the announcement of the resolutions from the latest ANC NEC meeting, which called for Ace Magashule to step down within 30 days or face possible suspension.
The African National Congress’ (ANC) Carl Niehaus took to Twitter on Monday, 29 March 2021, to comment on the resolutions shared by ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa. This was after Ramaphosa announced the resolutions from the latest ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. The most contentious of the resolutions was the emphasis on forging ahead with enforcing that officials implicated in corruption must step down within 30 days.
Following Ramaphosa’s announcement, some speculated that the ruling applies most to troubled Secretary-General, Ace Magashule. Therefore, it is no surprise that Niehaus has come to Magashule’s defence.
In a Twitter thread, Niehaus first stated, “(uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Associatons) MKMVA is 100% behind the Secretary-General of (the) ANC. Forcing Cde. Magashule to step aside, or to suspend him, is organisationally wrong and undemocratic. We will not accept such actions. It is totally alien to the democratic and revolutionary character of the ANC.”
