Ndlozi to open political interference case against Cele

Published on

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has announced his intention to open a case against Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, for his alleged interference in an investigation on PPE corruption.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) took to Twitter on Sunday, 10 January 2020, to circulate a statement announcing Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s intention to open a case against the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele. Cele has been criticised by several opposition parties recently for his handling of a variety of matters, such as how he goes about ensuring that people adhere to the alcohol and public gatherings ban.

However, Ndlozi appears to be disgruntled by another matter, which relates to an investigation into PPE corruption. According to the statement, “Following the Gauteng North High Court ruling which cited Minister of Police, Bheki Cele as having tried to halt the suspension of Ll-Gen. Peter Jacobs’ investigation into fraudulent acquisitions of (personal protective equipment) PPEs in Crime Intelligence. Commissar Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, who serves in the Parliament Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence, will open a case of political interference and defeating the hands of justice.”

The statement further noted that the charges will be laid at the Sunnyside Police Station, Pretoria. Ndlozi is set to be at the police station on Monday, 11 January 2021, at 12:00.
