Mbuyiseni Ndlozi took to Twitter to suggest that Cape Town is the equivalent of “White privilege,” following the president’s address about the new lockdown restrictions and regulations.
The Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) Commissar, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi took to Twitter on Monday, 14 December 2020, to suggest that Cape Town is the equivalent of “White privilege.” The post came just after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the new lockdown restrictions.
The newly announced restrictions and regulations are more stringent, in an effort to flatten the curve again, as the country is said to be experiencing a resurgence in COVID-19 infections. Therefore, the new restrictions seek to strike a balance between curbing the spread and continuing with business activity.
However, a contentious matter, which is speculated to be what Ndlozi was referring to, is the closure of all the beaches in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces. However, in the Western Cape, which has also been highlighted as a COVID-19 hotspot, only beaches along the Garden Route have been closed. Ndlozi is not the only political figure to have commented on the matter and expressed similar sentiments.
