Mbuyiseni Ndlozi sparked mixed reactions when he called for most of the neighbouring borders to be reopened, further describing the border closures as inhuman.
The Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) Commissar, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi took to Twitter on Wednesday, 6 January 2021, to continue to call for the reopening of neighbouring borders. The recent reiteration comes as his first tweets on the matter, shared on Tuesday, 5 January 2021, polarised Twitter users.
His first tweet on the matter stated, “Please open the borders from Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Mozambique! They [are] not bringing COVID-19; they left it here and will find it here. Let them in. It is not fair – they live here. They are from here. They are part of us! Or you will be dealing with the worst humanitarian crisis than COVID-19!”
Following this initial tweet, he tackled the contentious Beitbridge Border closure, which comes amid the conversation on the illegal immigration of Zimbabweans to South Africa recently captured headlines. The EFF’s stance has always been of a pan-African state, hence Ndlozi’s stance.

This #CloseBeitbridgeBorder hashtag must be rejected with all the contempt it deserves!
Let our people in. They are part of us! They live here and have been living here for centuries!
Closing the boarder is inhuman & will breed the worst humanitarian crisis than Covid-19!

Our humanity is measured not by how we treat our friends & loved ones. Our humanity is measured by how we treat strangers/foreigners.
The SA border crisis during this pandemic is the true test of our humanity. Don’t be inhuman. Open the borders: Lesotho, Zim, Bots & Moz is us!
