Nasty C is determined to foster a stronger SoundCloud community in South Africa for the benefit of new artists.
Rapper Nasty C recently announced that is he the owner of a record label called Tall Racks Records. At only 21 years of age, this is a major feat for a South African hip-hop artist. The label has signed one artist to date, singer Rowlene, who is set to release an album soon.
On Friday, 7 September 2018 Nasty C took to social media to fish for new artists to sign. He wrote a series of tweets encouraging young artists to pursue non-traditional avenues of distribution such as SoundCloud to get themselves recognised by industry big-wigs.
Here are some of his tweets:
“I noticed our SoundCloud community in Africa is not as strong as it should be. We don’t have SoundCloud sensations and we have over a BILLION PEOPLE! WHAT THE F**K!?? America has beeen tuning SoundCloud rappers/artists into MEGAstars. We can do that sh*t too if we stick together.”
“I wanna do something special for up & coming artists that have a sh*t load of potential but just aren’t heard/seen by the right people. I have a feeling this Might help get their music to the right ears 🙆🏽♂️ hear me out..”.
“*Upcoming artists* all you have to do is @TallRacksRec with your SoundCloud link and if I like your work, you’re in. Simple af. I chose SoundCloud coz it’s super easy to upload a song there and see how it’s doing numbers wise.”
“And as u know I’m still looking for artists to sign to @TallRacksRec. This playlist will help me build a relationship with the artists and expose them to everybody in my reach & help them decide if they wanna go indie or join the family. (This means that 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽).”
