Nakhane Toure and Sho MadJozi booked to perform at Afropunk 2018 events

South African artists Nakhane Toure and Sho Madjozi will be part of the line-up for international Afropunk concerts in 2018.

South African musicians Nakhane Toure and Sho Madjozi took to Twitter yesterday, 27 March, to announce their respective bookings at international Afropunk concert events.

Nakhane Toure will be performing at Afropunk this coming July in Paris, and a month later in Brooklyn,  New York.

Sho Madjozi has been booked to perform at the New York concert in August.

Afropunk is an annual arts festival that ‘celebrates and unifies the cultural cornerstones of ‘AFROPUNK’ through music, film, skating, and art.

The term ‘Afropunk’ according to organisers, signifies a defining culture which encourages rebelliousness, appreciation of the African spirit, and a collective creative environment.

The Afropunk music festival was started in 2005 by filmmaker and tattoo artist, James Spooner and Matthew Morgan in Brooklyn, New York. The festival has grown to become a global movement which unites diverse groups of people.

The first Afropunk festival held in South Africa was at the end of 2017 at Constitution Hill.

Fans of Toure and Sho MadJozi responded to the news on Twitter with jubilation. Fans lauded the artists were lauded for their great achievement.
