The myNSFAS portal appears to be functional again, following a recent announcement of scheduled maintenance that would affect its functionality.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) took to Twitter on Tuesday, 23 February 2021, to announce the temporary unavailability of the myNSFAS portal. The post noted that the portal would be undergoing maintenance that would result in it being unavailable for use. However, as of Wednesday, 24 February 2021, the portal appears to be back online and available for students to use again.
The announcement was made shortly after the matric class of 2020 received their results on the day. This meant that they could confirm their funding status with the scheme, ahead of the imminent start of the higher education academic year.
Of late, NSFAS has been facing backlash over its continued silence on funding and alleged non-payment of current beneficiaries’ fees. This is a matter that has given rise to fears of exclusion or non-admission to higher institutions of learning because of a lack of funds.
