Museveni invested by his party for a sixth term – Uganda

Published on

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, 75, who has ruled the country since 1986, was invested by his party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), for a sixth presidential term in 2021, APA learned on Tuesday, 28 July 2020.

Last year, numerous protests erupted across the country after the National Assembly lifted the age limit clause in the national constitution, paving the way for his re-election.

However, the National Election Commission will have to approve his candidacy in November, a procedure that many Ugandan political experts consider a mere formality.
