MultiChoice has confirmed that Groupe Canal+ has acquired interest in its ordinary shares, amounting to 12 percent of the shares in issue.
The MultiChoice Group Unlimited (MultiChoice), on Thursday, 29 October 2020, confirmed that Groupe Canal+ SA (Groupe Canal+) has acquired interest in its ordinary shares. Groupe Canal+ is a French television and film studio and distributor, which is in line with its interest in MultiChoice.
According to the notice, “The total interest in the ordinary shares of the company held by Groupe Canal+ now amounts to 12 percent of the company’s total ordinary shares in issue.”
The notice further clarified that the stakeholder is Groupe Canal+, however, MultiChoice has no knowledge of the individual stakeholders. Moreover, it has also not had any interactions with the new stakeholders.
In conclusion, the notice added, “MultiChoice has filed the required notice with the Takeover Regulation Panel. The Board of Directors of Multichoice accepts responsibility for the information contained in this announcement.”
