Mpofu suggests readiness to lead Eskom’s investigation on de Ruyter

Published on

Dali Mpofu has comically suggested that he is willing to lead the investigation on Eskom’s de Ruyter, who has been accused of racial prejudice in his dealings.

The Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) Member of Parliament (MP) and legal force, Advocate Dali Mpofu took to Twitter on Tuesday, 9 March 2021, to comically suggest that he would avail himself to lead the recently announced Eskom investigation. The parastatal released a statement earlier in the week confirming that it is set to launch a probe into the claims of racism against its Group Chief Exexutive (GCE), André de Ruyter.

The investigation comes on the back of claims that de Ruyter has undermined certain workers and has continued to attempt to sideline Black-owned suppliers. The EFF’s Zuvuyo Mente initiated the banter with Mpofu, following her first tweet on the matter regarding who would lead the investigation.

Mente stated, “The irony of realising that allegations against GCE must be tested only now, 13 months after they were reported to the same board who blatantly and ashamedly ignored them. Now that Parliament, through (Standing Committee on Public Accounts) SCOPA, is doing something about the complaint, you pretend to be serious.”
