Mpofu defends Malema’s contentious comments on Black lawyers

Published on

Dali Mpofu is the latest EFF member to come to Julius Malema’s defence over his contentious comments on the supposed incompetence of Black legal representatives.

The Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) Dali Mpofu took to Twitter on Sunday, 1 November 2020, to come to the defence of the party’s Commander-In-Chief (CIC), Julius Malema. This was over his contentious comments suggesting that Black lawyers are incompetent. Malema made the comments in response to the backlash over hiring a White legal firm for his common assault case.

In his tweet, Mpofu started off by stating that it is wrong for the EFF or the ruling party to use White legal representatives when there are Black legal representatives who are available. He then added, “Malema did not say, and does not believe, [that] all Black lawyers are incompetent.”

Mpofu coming to Malema’s defence piqued the interest of social media users, considering that he is a Black advocate.
