Angie Motshekga has called an urgent Council of Education Ministers meeting, which will then be followed by a media briefing later today.

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) took to Twitter on Tuesday, 17 November 2020, to announce that Minister Angie Motshekga has called for an urgent Council of Education Ministers meeting.

The Minister has reportedly received an update on the ongoing National Senior Certificate exams, which she is expected to touch on in the meeting and subsequent media briefing. Motshekga is expected to brief the media today, 18 November 2020.

The call for the urgent meeting follows reports of a leaked Mathematics Paper 2 exam. The leaked paper was allegedly circulated on WhatsApp, predominantly amongst learners from Limpopo and Gauteng. On Tuesday, the DBE claimed that it is investigating the matter.

The Council of Education Ministers meeting and media briefing have been scheduled for 12:00.
