Moodey pens open letter to Steenhuisen

Published on

John Moodey has penned an open letter to John Steenhuisen, suggesting that he is behind the description of his party as the “EFFlite in disguise.”

ActionSA’s John Moodey took to Twitter on Thursday, 3 December 2020, to circulate an open letter to the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Federal Leader, John Steenhuisen. The two Johns have history, as Moodey left the DA to join ActionSA. Moodey’s departure resulted in political mudslinging, with him alluding to the party supposedly reverting back to being racially prejudicial with Helen Zille at the helm. The DA, on the other hand, suggested that Moodey was willing to fabricate stories of sexual assault in order to maintain his position in the party. Both matters have been left open-ended.

In the recent open letter, Moodey first suggested that a statement said to have been written by Steenhuisen’s Chief of Staff, describing ActionSA as the “EFF-lite in disguise,” was not penned by the staffer, but rather, by Steenhuisen himself. The letter then defended Mashaba’s honour by detailing some of his achievements.

Moodey concluded the letter by writing, “Most of all, John, I would like to suggest that your time may be better spent worrying about your own party rather than ours. The recent by-elections show major declines, even after the new leadership came in and asserted its values. Remember the buck stops with the leader, right?

South Africans want solutions, John, and they are tired of political parties squabbling amongst themselves. ActionSA and the DA should not see each other as enemies when South Africans expect us collectively to unseat the ANC. Let us perhaps prioritise South Africans first ahead of petty politics.”
