Mmusi Maimane expands on his proposed economic recovery plan

Published on

Mmusi Maimane has continued to punt his recently publicised economic recovery plan, further contrasting his efforts with the supposed silence and lack of action by the government.

One South Africa Movement’s Mmusi Maimane took to Twitter on Friday, 9 October 2020, to continue pressurising the government to disclose its economic recovery plan. On Thursday, 8 October 2020, Maimane released his own five-pronged plan to rebuild and recover the country and its economy.

His recent post touched on the fact that it has been 23 days since President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the imminent disclosure of an economic recovery plan. Moreover, this past week, Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni had confirmed finalising his Medium Term Budget Policy Statement, and claimed that is set to detail the plan of action regarding the recovery of the ailing economy.

The government has not yet formally commented on the matter, with the last address being a statement speaking on the 42 percent unemployment rate shared by Statistics South Africa.
