Mmusi Maimane has called on Angie Motshekga to account for the state of schools, following images shared by the PP’s office of Nokweja High School in Ixopo.

Leader of the One South Africa Movement, Mmusi Maimane took to Twitter on Tuesday, 6 October 2020, to call on Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga to account for the questionable state of public schools. The recent call was in response to the Public Protector’s (PP) office sharing images from its site visit at Nokweja High School in Ixopo, KwaZulu-Natal.

The images showed a high school on the verge of collapse. This comes after Maimane’s recent visit to Mayibuye High School, which has been dubbed the “swamp school.” According to Maimane and reports, an estimated R82 million was spent on building the school.

Maimane has been prioritising the reform of the education system, therefore, whenever a matter on education arises, he continues to question Motshekga and her department.
