MKMVA mourns the loss of its president, Kebby Maphatsoe

MK veteran, Carl Niehaus has shared the MKMVA’s tribute statement for its fallen comrade and president, Kebby Maphatsoe, detailing his impact in the liberation struggle and association work.

uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) veteran, Carl Niehaus issued a statement on behalf of the uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association on Tuesday, 31 August 2021. The association confirmed its mourning of the passing of its now former president, Kebby Maphatsoe.

The MKMVA stated that Maphatsoe dedicated his entire adult life to the liberation struggle, both as a member of the ruling party and of the association. It further noted that his passing was a loss of one of its most dedicated members and liberation soldiers for both the African National Congress (ANC) and the community of military veterans.

The MKMVA further detailed how Maphatsoe was contributory in the formation of the association, having led it with dedication and distinction. It also noted his role in establishing the Department of Military Veterans (DMV) and the South African National Military Veterans Association (SANMVA). The association extended its condolences to his whole family.
