Mercedes-Benz SA confirms Denis Peterson’s resignation as company secretary

Mercedes-Benz SA has confirmed the resignation of Denis Peterson as the company secretary, as well as the retirement of non-executive director, Ulrich Bastert.

Mercedes-Benz South Africa circulated a formal statement on Thursday, 19 November 2020, detailing two significant changes in the company’s executive roles. The statement detailed the resignation of one of its executive staffers and the stepping down of one of the non-executive directors.

According to the statement, Denis Peterson has resigned from his position as the company secretary, however, the reason for the resignation was not revealed. His resignation came into effect on Wednesday, 18 November 2020. The role will now be assumed by Ashton Stewarts.

Ulrich Bastert, who served as a non-executive director, has also confirmed his retirement. Although not explicitly stating who Bastert’s replacement will be, the statement concluded, “The board welcomes Mr Bishop into his new position and wishes both Mr Peterson and Mr Bastert all the best with their future endeavours.”
