Mente questions validity of Nzimande supposedly being a communist

The EFF’s Zovuyo Mente took to Twitter to question the validity of Minister Blade Nzimande identifying as a communist, following the recent decisions taken by his department.

The Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) Chairperson, Zovuyo Mente took to Twitter on Friday, 12 March 2021, to question the validity of the South African Communist Party’s (SACP) Blade Nzimande supposedly being a communist. Nzimande is currently the Secretary-General of the SACP, a position he has held since 1998.

Mente questioned whether Nzimande adheres to the tenets thereof, following recent events and announcements by Nzimande that discourage the youth from receiving a chance to study further. This is in light of his initial call for the University of South Africa (UNISA) to reject the applications of 20 000 new applicants, due to the university having accepted more than the projected applicants.

On Thursday, 11 March 2021, the EFF circulated a statement announcing its victory in having the call reversed when they took the matter to the North Gauteng High Court. Thereafter, various members of the EFF have been questioning whether Nzimande is aware of the principles that govern communism, or whether his position and utterances are all just for show.
