Mavuso notes strengthened ties between business and social partners can resolve economic challenges

Published on

BLSA’s Mavuso believes in the importance of strengthened relations between business and all of its social partners in resolving the challenges faced by the economy of South Africa.

On Sunday, 5 September 2021, Business Leadership South Africa’s (BLSA) CEO, Busi Mavuso welcomed the incoming president and deputy president, Bonang Mohale and Adrian Gore, respectively, as Business Unity South Africa’s (BUSA) new leadership. She described both as strong leaders with ample experience of what it takes for business to prosper and help South Africa reach its potential.

Mavuso noted how the economy has been through one of the most dramatic periods, and that hard work with all social partners is necessary to build the right environment to deliver on that potential. She further stressed the need for organised business to generate the right ideas and for stronger relations between the government, civil society and labour to be built to resolve challenges.

Mavuso also agreed with the Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, who emphasised the importance of both business and government in achieving economic growth, reducing employment and poverty, and reducing inequality.
