Masuku vows to appeal PEC’s decision

Published on

Former Gauteng Health MEC, Bandile Masuku has vowed to appeal the Gauteng Disciplinary Committee’s decision to relieve him of his duties.

On Monday, 19 April 2021, Bandile Masuku confirmed that he will be appealing the ANC’s decision to have him step down from his role as a member of the party’s provincial executive committee (PEC).

Masuku is one of two ANC leaders who were suspended for bringing the party into disrepute, this after it was alleged that he had benefited from a personal protective equipment (PPE) tender.

The former Health MEC said, “As a disciplined member [of the ANC], I would have to follow through on what the Disciplinary Committee (DC) has said, but the code of conduct and the constitution of the ANC doesn’t have a sanction that is called – step-aside.” When asked if he would appeal the disciplinary outcome, he responded, “Most definitely, I have processed the appeal, I have given notice of the appeal and it’s something that will be followed up by the organisation.”
