Masina stands with Magashule in light of warrant of arrest

Published on

Mzwandile Masina took to Twitter to affirm his support for Ace Magashule, who has been issued with a warrant of arrest for his alleged involvement in corrupt dealings.

Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mzwandile Masina took to Twitter on Tuesday, 10 November 2020, to announce that he stands with the African National Congress’ (ANC) Secretary-General (SG), Ace Magashule.

The SG captured headlines when it was confirmed that the Hawks had issued a warrant of arrest to him for his alleged involvement in the controversial Free State asbestos housing project. This was during Magashule’s tenure as the Premier of the Free State.

In his reasoning, Masina suggested that the arrest is driven by apartheid laws. He proudly proclaimed that he would stand with Magashule when he faces his day in court, which is ironic, considering that Masina was the one calling for President Cyril Ramaphosa to step down due to corruption allegations. Moreover, Masina previously stated that any state official implicated in corruption should step down.
