Herman Mashaba has joined the mounting calls for the rejection of the speculated increase in taxes, which is expected to be announced by Tito Mboweni tomorrow.
Leader of ActionSA, Herman Mashaba took to Twitter on Monday, 22 February 2021, to call for the rejection of the suggested tax increases, set to be announced at the upcoming budget speech. The speech is set to be delivered by Minister Tito Mboweni on Wednesday, 24 February 2021.
Currently, it is speculated that as in previous times when faced with a financial crisis, the government will increase taxes for working class citizens. Moreover, Mashaba alluded to the additional taxes being used for political funding too.
In line with his Cut The Fat campaign, which is aimed at encouraging the government to consider budget cuts and minimising government spending, Mashaba is calling on the public to vehemently reject the tax increases upon confirmation. Mashaba also challenged other opposition parties to refrain from accepting funds from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), as an act of solidarity and opposition to the financial hardships faced by working class South Africans during the pandemic.

My call to every single political party in the National Assembly:
Reject & refuse any additional funding from taxpayer pockets!
