Mashaba challenges ruling party to visit MTN Taxi Rank

Published on

Herman Mashaba has challenged officials of the ruling party to visit the MTN Taxi Rank in Johannesburg, as he continues to suggest that its state is because of the ANC’s negligence.

Herman Mashaba took to Twitter on Thursday, 4 March 2021, to challenge the African National Congress (ANC) officials to visit the MTN Taxi Rank and other parts of inner-city Johannesburg. The suggestion was specifically directed at President Cyril Ramaphosa, Minister Zweli Mkhize and Minister Mbalula.

Recently, Mashaba has been touring the Johannesburg Central District Block. Throughout his visits, he has highlighted that some of the parts of the inner city have become what he has deemed as health hazards because of the ANC’s negligence and the over-populated buildings. He has also earmarked sites that his rejuvenation project during his tenure as the Mayor of Johannesburg was meant to target. However, the ActionSA leader could not see out the project because he stepped down from the position.

Following his visit to the MTN Taxi Rank, Mashaba stated, “Just arrived back home from a depressing inner city visit. I am lucky that I have a shower to wash the stench away, but millions of taxi drivers and commuters don’t have that basic luxury. [Is] this the South Africa we want to live in?”
