Herman Mashaba and Geoff Makhubo were embroiled in yet another disagreement on Twitter, which ended with Mashaba’s party members suggesting that Makhubo should be arrested.
Leader of ActionSA, Herman Mashaba took to Twitter on Wednesday, 8 April 2021, to create a thread detailing why Geoff Makhubo should be in prison for corruption. The first post in the thread read, “I see Geoff Makhubo is very vocal after the High Court judgement relating to emergency vehicles in the city. Again, just trying to distract Johannesburg residents from the fact that the Mayor should be serving a 15-year jail sentence for corruption.”
Mashaba then went on to nuance his stance by speaking about the bad contract that his administration was stuck with upon assuming office in 2015 with the “fire raiders,” who supposedly could not fulfil their obligations. Mashaba suggested that Makhubo had cost the City of Johannesburg R161 million with that particular tender. Eventually, Makhubo replied by suggesting that Mashaba had signed bad tenders too during his administration, like that of Lephatsi Financial Services.
Thereafter, Mashaba’s party members came to the defence of their party leader by sharing a snippet of Makhubo’s appearance at the State Capture Commission. In the clip, Makhubo can be heard attempting to defend and account for funds received by Regiment, a company he is believed to be affiliated with which allegedly received R900 000 in unexplained funds.

What about Lephatsi Financial Services? Through their flawed advice the City is spending R 600 million more per annum. This is after ignoring solid advice from Wits. Why? To please your partners the EFF. I think Tony Leon was mistaken. Here is an experiment gone wrong https://t.co/FTAZQ8I0An
