Mashaba accuses DSD of treating staff in “a despicable manner”
Herman Mashaba has openly criticised the DSD, led by Minister Lindiwe Zulu, for allegedly allowing long-term staffers to remain employed without permanent contracts.
ActionSA leader, Herman Mashaba took to Twitter on Wednesday, 2 December 2020, to call out the Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu in an open letter.
The thread on Twitter remarked on the allegations that the Department of Social Development (DSD) has had staffers working in its offices for 15 years who are still without permanent contracts.
The implications are that the current agreements are devoid of benefits and the employment security that comes with having a permanent contract. Moreover, Mashaba suggested that Zulu is aware of the matter but has allegedly failed to address it since assuming office. The matter was allegedly detailed by the cleaning and security personnel at the South African State Security Agency (SASSA).
In his tweet, Mashaba claimed, “A department allegedly committed to ‘social development’ allows its staff to be treated in such a despicable manner!”
See the post below.
How can it be that despite some working indirectly for the Department of Social Development for the past 15 years, they have not been permanently employed?!
A department allegedly committed to ‘Social Development’ allows its staff to be treated in such a despicable manner!
