Marcelo Godoy appointed CTO for AngloGold Ashanti Limited

AngloGold Ashanti has announced the appointment of Marcelo Godoy as Chief Technology Officer, taking over from Graham Ehm who is set to retire at the end of 2021.

On Monday, 27 September 2021, AngloGold Ashanti Limited announced that it has appointed Newmont’s Marcelo Godoy as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective from Monday, 1 November 2021. Godoy will be replacing Graham Ehm, Executive Vice President for Group Planning and Technical, who is reported to be retiring at the end of 2021.

Graham is said to have spent 30 years with AngloGold Ashanti. Godoy has been described by AngloGold Ashanti CEO as someone bringing deep experience in resource modelling, mine planning and project development. Moreover, he has a track record in leading technical teams and introducing technology to drive sustainable competitive advantage.

AngloGold further stated that Godoy has well over 20 years experience in the mining industry, as a mining engineer himself, holding a master’s degree in Geostatistics from the University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and a PhD in Strategic Mine Planning.
