Mzwanele Manyi has showcased his support for Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, in light of his recently announced long leave that commenced at the beginning of the month.
Executive member of the African Transformation Movement (ATM), Mzwanele Manyi took to Twitter on Thursday, 6 May 2021, to showcase his support for Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng. The post comes on the back of the news that the Chief Justice has taken his long overdue leave.
However, some have suggested that the context in which he has taken his long leave raises concern. It is speculated that the Chief Justice’s long leave is due to political interference within the judiciary. However, the state has reiterated that there is nothing questionable about Mogoeng taking his long leave.
Manyi’s post affirmed his support for the Chief Justice and the stances he has taken in the past. Some viewed Manyi’s post as a farewell to the outgoing Chief Justice, despite his actual departure scheduled for later in the year.
