Julius Malema has reiterated the call for Cyril Ramaphosa to stop acquiring vaccines from European countries, further suggesting that Ramaphosa revert to BRICS countries instead.
Commander-In-Chief (CIC) of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema took to Twitter on Tuesday, 13 April 2021, to call for President Cyril Ramaphosa to stop acquiring vaccines manufactured in European and American countries. The post comes on the back of the halting of the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which was the main vaccine used in the Sisonke vaccination rollout programme.
In his posts, Malema returned to the tenets that the EFF stood on after BRICS countries started producing effective vaccines. The CIC questioned the reason for Ramaphosa’s decision to use vaccines manufactured in European and American countries. Malema suggested that the decision by the state is due to the supposed relationship that Ramaphosa has with Microsoft founder, Bill Gates. The belief is that due to their alleged affiliation, Ramphosa has prevented the approval of vaccines from Russia and China.
Malema concluded by highlighting the irony of South Africa being one of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries but failing to endorse vaccines produced by the aforementioned countries.
