Maimane calls for full disclosure of reasons behind Zuma’s medical parole
Mmusi Maimane has called for the full disclosure of the reasons and basis for the decision by the Ministry of Correctional Services to grant Jacob Zuma medical parole.
Leader of the One South Africa Movement (OSA), Mmusi Maimane issued a statement on Sunday, 5 September 2021, stating that the party will be submitting a formal application in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information (PAIA), requesting the full record of the decision to grant Jacob Zuma medical parole. Maimane stressed that this is crucial to ensure that the public is taken into confidence that the government’s decision was in good faith and furnished with both the reasons and basis behind the decision.
Maimane further noted in his statement that the decision to grant Zuma medical parole remains questionable, considering that Arthur Fraser, who currently heads the Correctional Services as National Commissioner, was Zuma’s alleged former spy boss. He also noted that the full disclosure of reasons behind the decision is necessary to address any concerns and conspiracies.
