Mmusi Maimane is calling for a reshuffle of cabinet, as part of his continued call for the dismissal of Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga.
Chief Activist of One South Africa Movement (OSA), Mmusi Maimane took to Twitter on Tuesday, 6 April 2021, to call for a cabinet reshuffle. His stance is based on his reiteration of the need for the dismissal of Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga. Maimane has been steadfast in his belief that the basic education system would be better off without Motshekga, who has occupied the position through two sitting presidents.
Maimane shared an infographic detailing the progression of grade one learners that enrol compared to students who eventually pursue a tertiary Qualification. The infographic suggested that for every one million grade one learners that enrol, an average of 10 percent of those will further their studies into higher institutions of learning. Moreover, an estimated 550 000 will write their National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, whilst an average of 400 000 will pass the NSC examinations, despite the pass rate currently being 30 percent.

Bagaetsho we need a new minister of basic education. One who is committed to turning these numbers around, not massaging the numbers.
The system is failing our youth and is contributing to high levels of youth unemployment.
In reality we need a massive reshuffle of cabinet. pic.twitter.com/aJeHoJKaAc
