Lufthansa wants you to pay more for seats “closer to the exit”

Published on

German airline, Lufthansa, will from 20 February 2018 be introducing what the company terms “preferred seat zone” for economy class passengers on long-haul flights.

The preferred seat zone charges economy class passengers between 30 to 50 euros to sit in the “preferred seat zone – directly behind the Business or Premium Economy Class and thus closer to the exit.”

The company has already introduced the preferred seat zone on another airline it owns, SWISS, and will be extending this option to both Lufthansa and its other subsidiary, Austrian Airlines.

There appear to be no additional services associated with the “preferred seat zone”, except for being closer to the exit.
