[LISTEN] Veliswa Mvenya shares her reason for resigning from the DA

On Friday, 22 June 2018 Political Analysis South Africa spoke to former Democratic Alliance (DA) member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature, Veliswa Mvenya.

Veliswa Mvenya resigned from the DA last month, saying that she wanted to take a break from politics.

Earlier today, during an interview with Babalwa Louw on Umhlobo Wenene FM, Mvenya further explained that she left the party because she felt marginalised by Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor and former provincial Chairperson of the party, Athol Trollip.  She accused Trollip of running a one man show and further said that anyone who would go against him in the party would be isolated. She slammed accusations that she has been isolated because of her race but said that it is rather because of the power that Trollip allegedly holds within the party’s provincial leadership.

“This thing between myself and Trollip is about power because he wants to control everything,” Mvenya said.
