[LISTEN] POPCRU signs up to public sector wage offer

Published on

On Tuesday, 22 May 2018 Political Analysis South Africa’s Thando Maeko spoke to Richard Mamabolo, who is POPCRU’s spokesperson.

The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) has signed the public sector wage agreement, which was finalised by Minister for Public Service and Administration, Ayanda Dlodlo on Monday, 21 May 2018.

Not all unions that are members of the Public Service Bargaining Council agreed to the settlement, with many saying that they are yet to consult with their members on the way forward.

Mamabolo says the final day for unions to accept or reject the offer is Wednesday, 23 May 2018. He adds that POPCRU should not be maligned because its members have agreed to the wage offer.

“There are still other discussions that are going on…we should not be singled out as POPCRU which has signed yet others have not signed,” he said.
