NUM outraged by latest fatality at Lethabo power station

Political Analysis South Africa’s Thando Maeko recently spoke to Mathapelo Khanye, who is the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) PWV Eskom Shop Steward.

The second round of wage negotiations between workers and Eskom began on 6 June 2018. Eskom has placed an offer of 0% increase on the table. NUM Members in the PWV Region in Gauteng have vowed to reject the offer. Khanye says that she hopes during the second round of negotiations Eskom would have come up with another offer.

“We are hoping that Eskom…they will have a change of mind and a change of heart…” she said.
