[LISTEN] ISS truck drivers suspend strike as demands have been met

On Tuesday, 19 June 2018 Political Analysis South Africa spoke to Hlansinyane Motaung, who is the Spokesperson for the Motor Transport Workers Union (MTWU).

Members affiliated with the MTWU earlier today embarked on a strike demanding among other things, payments of outstanding provident funds by their employer, Innovative Staffing Solutions (ISS).

Truck drivers have since suspended their strike following talks between the union and management.

Motaung says that ISS has conceded to the workers demands that they be transferred back to their previous employer from two years ago, Izusa. Truck drivers will return to Izusa within two months.

“The employees are gonna leave from that employer to go to their employer, the original employer who was Izusa. Then the only thing that must happen within the period of two months, all the monies and everything that we were complaining about…will be dealt with legally,” Motaung said.
