On Tuesday, 29 May 2018 Political Analysis South Africa’s Thando Maeko spoke to United Democratic Alliance (UDM) leader, Bantu Holomisa.
The UDM has welcomed a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which the party claims has absolved its councillor in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Mongameli Bobani from any wrongdoing relating to a contract between the municipality and Milongani Eco-Consulting.
Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor, Athol Trollip fired Bobani last year after Trollip accused him of acting in a corrupt manner. Holomisa says the Democratic Alliance (DA) will have to account for the money spent on investigations into the matter, and must further explain why the party felt it appropriate to implicate Bobani in corrupt activities, even though, according to the UDM, the DA knew that he was not involved.
“The ball is in their court now to tell the people why they wasted so many millions in investigating an issue which they knew that it doesn’t involve Bobani,” he said.
