Liberian authorities have levied a fine on an industrial Chinese fishing vessel, Bonheur Vessel 1462, for allegedly engaging in illegal fishing activities in Liberian waters.
The Chinese vessel was arrested by the Liberian National Coast Guard in collaboration with the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), according to a NaFAA press statement issued here.
The latest brings to two the number of Chinese vessels arrested and fined for illegal fishing activities in Liberian waters this year.
According to NaFAA, it earlier this year arrested and fined another Chinese fishing vessel $50,000 for illegally offloading fish products without the knowledge of Liberian fisheries authorities.
