The DA’s Leon Schreiber has come out to publicly respond to suggestions that Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has confirmed that the R37 million Beitbridge border will never work.
The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Shadow Minister of Police Service and Administration, Leon Schreiber took to Twitter on Tuesday, 6 October 2020, to publicly lambaste Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Patricia de Lille. This followed suggestions that Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has come out to speak against the recently erected R37 million Beitbridge border, ultimately discrediting de Lille’s call.
In the past, the DA referred to the border as a washing line, and most recently, Herman Mashaba revealed how some Zimbabwean nationals allegedly crawl under the fence to cross the border. Mapisa-Nqakula is said to have confirmed that the border has done little to curb the issue of illegal immigrants.
Schreiber commented on the suggestions by claiming that de Lille is “a typical ANC minister,” supposedly for deceiving the country.
