Labour Department issues reminder ahead of EE report submission deadline
The Labour Department has circulated a statement acting as another reminder of the deadline for employers to submit their EE reports via the department’s online platform.
The Department of Employment and Labour took to Twitter on Tuesday, 12 January 2021, to circulate a statement, which serves as another reminder of the nearing deadline for employers to submit their Employment Equity (EE) reports. The department has been circulating weekly reminders since the start of the new year on the importance of submitting the EE report.
The latest statement provided more details on the interventions by the department to make the process easier, noting, “The reporting season was preceded by a series of national virtual EE workshops by the Department of Employment and Labour’s EE Directorate. The objectives of the virtual workshops, held in October 2020 with the stakeholders nationally, were to publicise the status of employment equity in each province as reflected in the 20th Commission for Employment Equity (CEE) Annual Report; and to solicit public comments on the published Draft Code of Good Practice on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the World of Work. (Lastly) to advocate for online EE reporting.”
The deadline for submissions is Friday, 15 January 2021. It is advised to make the submission a day earlier, as there have been claims of the site occasionally being down.
