Labour Department announces temporary closure of Mossel Bay Labour Centre

Published on

The Labour Department has announced the temporary closure of the Mossel Bay Labour Centre, following a reported COVID-19 case and need to decontaminate the workspace.

The Department of Employment and Labour took to Twitter on Thursday, 19 November 2020, to announce the temporary closure of the Mossel Bay Labour Centre. The post detailed the reason for the closure as a reported COVID-19 case, which has led to the need to decontaminate the centre.

Of late, the Labour Department has been reporting less COVID-19 cases at its centres. Under Alert Level 3 of the lockdown and the gradual reopening of various entities, the department frequently reported the temporary closure of certain centres because of a confirmed case, which appears to have improved in recent weeks.

However, with the announcement of the one-month extension of the COVID-19 Temporary Employer-Employee Relief Scheme (TERS), the labour centres are expected to have more activity.

According to the post, the centre is scheduled to reopen on Monday, 23 November 2020.
