Labour Department announces temporary closure of Knysna Labour Centre

Published on

The Labour Department took to Twitter to confirm the temporary closure of the Knysna Labour Centre, citing a confirmed COVID-19 case on the premises as the reason for the closure.

The Department of Employment and Labour took to Twitter on Wednesday, 25 November 2020, to announce the temporary closure of the Knysna Labour Centre. The temporary closure is due to a confirmed COVID-19 case, prompting the need for the centre to be decontaminated.

This past week, the Labour Department had advised the public to make use of its online platform for applications and queries. The post highlighted the continued reports of labour centres across the country with confirmed COVID-19 cases. However, the matter of the turnaround time for online communication continues to be contentious.

The department earmarked Monday, 30 November 2020, as the expected reopening date of the labour centre.
