Jacobus Petrus “Koos” Bekker has parted ways with South Ocean Holdings, however, no reason was provided in the notice for his immediate departure.
South Ocean Holdings confirmed in a statement on Tuesday, 1 December 2020, that businessman and Chairman of Naspers, Jacobus Petrus “Koos” Bekker has parted ways with the company. The reason for his departure has been left open for speculation, with no explicit cause thereof being noted in the statement.
In announcing his departure, the statement simply read, “In compliance with section 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (“JSE”), shareholders are advised that, by mutual consent, Mr Jacobus Petrus Bekker (“Koos”) has parted ways with the company with immediate effect.”
The company has confirmed its plans to appoint a successor, however, it has yet to clarify whether Bekker’s departure was amicable.
