Matshela Koko revelled in the suggestions that Eskom was in better condition under his and former Group CEO, Brian Molefe’s management.
Matshela Koko took to Twitter on Monday, 15 March 2021, to revel in the suggestions that Eskom had its most successful years in recent history during his and Brian Molefe’s tenures as Group Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of the parastatal. This follows Eskom’s latest maintenance presentation that was held earlier in the day.
During the presentation, current Group CEO, André de Ruyter, stated that South Africans should expect load-shedding to continue for the next three to five years. The explanation was attributed to the parastatal supposedly undergoing more intensive maintenance of its generators, which has made the reliability of energy supply more precarious.
Koko, in a series of posts, nuanced how the best years of the parastatal since the introduction of rolling blackouts were under their reign. This was between 2016 and 2017. Moreover, Koko highlighted the suggestions of the supposed bias in the reporting by questioning why there is not furore over the five-year projection, and why no credit was given when they were able to temporarily halt power cuts.
See the post below.
For the very first time @Eskom_SA admits that Koko and @BrianMbm1 executed more maintenance on the Eskom plants in 2016 & 2017 and that they achieved better results.
I called this the "Koko and Molefe" effect at the @StateCaptureCom
I am humbled that Eskom finally acceptes this pic.twitter.com/j38McKKIJW
