Koko shares communication suggesting disregard of Lenkopane’s suspension

Matshela Koko has shared a document clarifying that Bitsa Lenkopane’s ANC membership remains intact for now, which appears to have been penned by troubled party member, Ace Magashule.

Former Eskom boss, Koko Matshela took to Twitter on Thursday, 29 April 2021, to share a letter clarifying that Bitsa Lenkopane’s ANC membership remains intact. The Acting North West African National Congress (ANC) Women’s League Secretary was suspended on Wednesday, 28 April 2021, alongside former North West premier, Supra Mahumapelo, after the ANC found the two guilty on the suspicion of misconduct.

Lenkopane claimed that she had learned of her suspension via the media, hence her appeal of the suspension. However, it now seems that her suspension has been disregarded by the party’s Secretary-General, Ace Magashule.

The letter shared by Koko appears to have been penned by Magashule, whose name can be seen at the bottom. The detail is surprising, considering that it shows that Magashule still has some influence in the decision-making within the party. Moreover, it suggests that despite the 30 days of him needing to voluntarily step down from his position being up, Magashule is continuing as normal within the party structures.
